TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH

#778 PURDUE (-16′) over Minnesota at 8:30 PM EST
Firing on all cylinders on a solid 8-0 SU and 5-3 ATS run and off Saturday’s blowout home win and cover over Indiana, Purdue will stay hot and pound this overachieving Minnesota squad. The Golden Gophers have been a pointspread darling this season inking a stunning 20-3 ATS record. Rest assured; head coach Ben Johnson and his boys will finally meet their ATS match here.

A quick glance at the History Book shows that PU has dominated this series lately posting a proud 19-8 SU and 16-10-1 ATS record in the last 27 meetings. In this run battling a Gophers squad that arrives without steam off a straight up loss, the Boilers improve to an elite 11-3 SU and 10-4 ATS. Equally impressive, when priced as a favorite of -14 or more and competing against a foe that enters off an ATS win, Purdue holds a lucrative 36-19 ATS mark including a reliable 34-14 ATS if its opponent owns a team won/loss percentage less than .725. With those two parameters in play and head coach Matt Painter’s boys not locked into a revenge mode, this team trend zips to a strong 33-11 ATS.

Minnesota is locked into one of its worst team roles, too. In the second of two or more games on the road, the Golden Gophers have folded inking a soft 25-74 SU and 40-56-2 ATS record. Provided Coach Johnson and his players hold a conference won/loss percentage of .425 or higher, this technical situation drops to a dismal 12-38 SU and 14-35-1 ATS including a shocking 2-23 SU and 3-21-1 ATS if their opponent storms the court off a pointspread win. To make matters worse, double-digit Big 10 road dogs in conference play are currently on a woeful 2-23 SU and 9-16 ATS run.

The Boilermakers are still on top in the Big 10 standings and, with the Fighting Illini uncomfortably close, Coach Painter will make sure his squad takes care of business against this road weary Golden Gophers bunch. Take Purdue. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
