TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION WEDNESDAY, JULY 10TH

#922 BALTIMORE RUN LINE with Burnes (-1′ +125) over Chicago with Imanaga at 6:35 PM EST
Off last night’s 9-2 home loss to the Cubs and still clinging to a 3.0-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East, the Orioles will bounce back in a big way in this revenge battle. Baltimore hosts a weekend series against the Bronx Bombers and manager Brandon Hyde want’s his troops going into that division matchup firing on all cylinders.

Veteran right-hander Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the O’s. So far this season, No. 39 has made 18 official starts and been clipped for only 29 earned runs and 90 hits in 112.2 innings of work. Corbin fanned 105 and issued 25 free passes on his way to a 9-3 record with a powerful 2.32 ERA. Even better, in his own backyard, Burnes has been at his statistical best surrendering just 12 earned runs and 54 hits in 60.2 frames. That’s good enough for a 5-1 mark with an elite 1.78 ERA.

Rookie southpaw Shota Imanaga will hit the hill for the visitors. With 16 starts completed this year, No. 18 was scratched for 32 earned runs and 86 hits in 91.0 innings. Shota whiffed 92 and walked 15 on his way to a 7-2 tally with a 3.16 ERA. Thankfully, in his last three battles against the Phillies, Giants, and Mets, Imanaga has been blasted for 16 earned runs and 22 hits in 15.0 frames. That’s bad enough for an 0-1 record with a rough 9.60 ERA.

This is a strong wagering spot for the home team. Baltimore has connected on the run line in 46 of its last 82 battles. On the other side of the field, Chicago has dropped 28 of its last 42 when coming off a victory and slipped by an average of 1.2 runs per game. Also, the Cubs have cashed the run line in only 23 of their last 63 matchups.

After getting clocked by seven runs last night, the O’s will administer a beating of their own in this spot. Take Baltimore on the run line with Burnes. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
