#970 SEATTLE RUN LINE with Gilbert (-1′ +137) over LA Angels with Soriano at 9:40 PM EST
Completely frustrated off yesterday’s 3-1 home loss to the Halos and with blemishes in six of their last seven games, the Mariners will dig deep and pick up a much-needed victory here. Seattle is currently tied with Houston for the top spot in the AL West and falling to an LA bunch that is currently 14.0-games under the .500 mark simply can’t happen if the M’s want to win the division.

Surging right-hander Logan Gilbert will hold the pill for the home team. With 20 starts completed this season, No. 36 was scratched for only 41 earned runs and 90 hits in 132.1 innings of work. Logan fanned 124 and issued 25 free passes on his way to a 6-5 tally with an elite 2.79 ERA. In nine previous performances against the Angels, Gilbert has put together a powerful 4.2 record with a respectable 3.93 ERA.

Storming the mound for the visitors will be righty Jose Soriano. So far this year, No. 59 has appeared in 17 games (15 official starts) and been slapped for 36 earned runs and 71 hits in 87.1 innings. Jose whiffed 72 and walked 34 on his way to a 5-7 tally with a 3.71 ERA. Even worse, fighting the Mariners, Cubs, and A’s in his last three performances, Soriano was smoked for eight earned runs and 14 hits in 15.0 frames. That’s bad enough for a 1-2 record with a feeble 4.80 ERA.

Technically speaking, Los Angeles has experienced a few problems against winning teams dropping 42 of its last 69 overall. Meanwhile, Seattle has picked up wins in 31 of its last 52 in its own backyard and 19 of its last 30 when facing an AL West opponent.

With six straight on the road starting on Friday, the Mariners will make sure they get the job done in their final two at home against the Angels. Take Seattle on the run line with Gilbert. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
