TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION THURSDAY, JANUARY 30TH
#839 OREGON (+4′) over UCLA at 10:30 PM EST
In a same season revenge mode and off the eight-point road loss to Minnesota, Oregon is worth a look plus the points at UCLA. The Bruins enter this Big Ten battle off four consecutive straight up wins (2-2 ATS) and this will be a challenging spot for head coach Mick Cronin and his crew.
The history in this series is certainly noted. UO holds a feeble 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS record in the last seven meetings. Thankfully, head coach Dana Altman and his kids have been at their best in conference play when facing a foe that arrives with confidence off three or more straight up wins posting a profitable 47-19 SU and 44-21-1 ATS mark including an amazing 41-16 SU and ATS provided both teams enter off a conference battle. With those two parameters live and the Ducks sporting a pointspread won/loss percentage less than .500, this team trend explodes to an elite 22-5 ATS.
This is actually a tough wagering spot for UCLA. At home busting in with momentum off a SU and ATS victory and now fighting a foe that carries a team won/loss percentage of .770 or higher, the Bruins sport a woeful 17-28-2 ATS record in their last 47 battles including a pitiful 7-19-2 ATS provided this is a conference game. With those two parameters cranking away and Coach Cronin’s kids facing an opponent that owns four or more days of rest, this angle falls to a nasty 3-11-1 ATS.
The Ducks have tightened up their defense on the perimeter (last four foes have connected on just 27.9 percent from behind the arc) and they will lean on that tenacious stop unit to help them cash this revenge ticket. Take Oregon. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
