TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1ST
#469 HOUSTON (-3′) over Jacksonville at 1 PM EST
Fired up off last week’s surprising 32-27 home loss to the Titans as an eight-point favorite, the Texans will travel to EverBank Stadium and rock the slumping Jaguars. Jacksonville enters this division battle off four consecutive straight up losses and head coach Doug Pederson and his squad will get hammered here once again.
A quick glance at the History Book shows that Houston has dominated this series lately inking a strong 30-15 SU and 26-18-1 ATS record in the last 45 meetings. In this run competing on the road, the Texans improve to an outstanding 10-2 SU and 9-3 ATS. Equally impressive, when coming off a straight up loss, head coach DeMeco Ryans and his squad own a profitable 11-4 SU and ATS in their last 15 tries including a spotless 7-0 ATS provided that blemish came in the comforts of home. Lastly, NFL teams that lost straight up priced as a favorite of -7 or more last hold an incredible 170-128-9 ATS mark provided their opponent played on the road in their previous game. If our “play on” side is off exactly one straight up loss, this situation tightens up to a spectacular 115-78-6 ATS including an elite 91-55-6 ATS provided they are playing on the road. That bodes well for the visitors.
It certainly won’t take much to fade Jacksonville on this field. In their own backyard, the Jags hold a disturbing 47-76-3 ATS mark in their last 126 games including an ugly 8-19 SU and 7-19-1 ATS if their opponent enters off a division battle. Also, when matched up against an AFC South foe that takes the field without confidence off a straight up loss, Coach Pederson and his troops own a soft 5-15 SU and 8-12 ATS mark including 4-14 SU and 6-12 ATS provided they are not priced as a double-digit underdog. Finally, when facing a foe that enters off a SU and ATS home loss, the Jaguars hold a rough 12-31 SU and ATS tally including a nasty 0-8 SU and ATS if their opponent owns a team won/loss percentage of .570 or higher.
The Texans are still on top in the division, and they can’t afford a loss to a Jaguars bunch that is resting in the basement of the AFC South. Take Houston. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
