Back on track off a pair of road wins at Milwaukee, Atlanta will return home and have no trouble extending the margin against Miami. The Marlins enter this division battle off a huge 6-2 road win over the Devil Rays and manager Skip Schumaker and his troops will revert right back to their losing ways on foreign soil (now 18-34).
Veteran right-hander Charlie Morton will toe the rubber for the home squad. So far this season, No. 50 has made 19 starts and been tapped for 49 earned runs and 93 hits in 106.0 innings of work. Charlie struck out 103 and walked 40 on his way to a 5-6 record with a 4.16 ERA. Equally impressive, in 25 career starts against the Fish, Morton has assembled a respectable 13-6 mark with a strong 4.14 ERA.
Picking up the pill for the road team will be young righty Max Meyer. With only four starts to his name this season, No. 23 has been nailed for seven earned runs and 15 hits in 21.0 innings. Max whiffed 17 and walked five on his way to a 2-0 tally with a 3.00 ERA. With six career starts completed, Meyer has allowed 12 earned runs and 22 hits in 27.0 frames. That shakes down to a 2-1 mark with a 4.00 ERA.
This isn’t the best wagering situation for the visitors either. When playing with equal rest, Miami has inked a poor 41-56 run line record falling by an average of 0.8 runs per game. Additionally, in division play, the Marlins hold a run line record of 75-85 since 2022.
