Tom Stryker’s Free Baseball Play June 20th

TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION THURSDAY, JUNE 20TH

#903 LA DODGERS RUN LINE with Stone (-1′ -140) over Colorado with Blach at 3:10 PM EST
Angry off last night’s one-run road loss to the Rockies, the Dodgers will have no trouble extending the margin in this mismatch. Los Angeles holds a commanding 9.0-game lead over San Diego and Arizona in the NL West standings and manager Dave Roberts wants to push that advantage to double-digits by the end of the weekend.

Hitting the hump for the visitors will be right-hander Gavin Stone. So far this season, No. 35 has made 13 starts and been nicked for only 25 earned runs and 67 hits in 74.2 frames. Gavin fanned 56 and issued 23 free passes on his way to a solid 7-2 mark with an elite 3.01 ERA. Equally impressive, in three June starts against the Royals, Yankees, and Rockies, Stone was scratched for just five earned runs and 16 hits in 17.2 innings. That’s good enough for a 2-0 tally with a powerful 2.55 ERA.

Southpaw Ty Blach will counter for the home squad. With 11 appearances in the books this year including eight starts, No. 50 was popped for 26 earned runs and 62 hits in 50.1 innings of work. Ty struck out 27 and walked nine on his way to a 3-4 record with a 4.65 ERA. Even worse, in day outings, Blach has been bombed for 16 earned runs and 44 hits in 38.1 frames. That equates to a 1-2 mark with an elevated 5.82 ERA.

This is a poor wagering situation for the hosts as well. Colorado has fallen in 13 of its last 21 when facing a foe that owns a team won/loss percentage greater than .500, 20 of its last 29 in day games, and 35 of its last 55 when battling a right-handed starter. On the other side of the yard, Los Angeles has quietly won 65 of its last 95 when coming off a loss.

The Dodgers have the better arm on the bump and that will be the difference in this division battle. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
