TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION FRIDAY, JUNE 14TH

#913 NY YANKEES with Gil (-164) over Boston with Bello at 6:30 PM EST
Off yesterday’s 4-3 road loss to the Royals, look for the Bronx Bombers to cruise right into Beantown and pick up this rivalry dub over the BoSox. New York’s advantage in the AL East rests at 2.5-games over Baltimore and the Yankees need this victory in order to maintain their slight edge in the division standings.

Young phenom right-hander Luis Gil will hit the hump for the road team. With 13 starts in the books this season, No. 81 has been dialed in allowing only 17 earned runs and 35 hits in 75.0 innings. Luis whiffed 90 and walked 35 on his way to a stunning 8-1 mark with an outstanding 2.04 ERA. Facing the Dodgers, Twins, and Angels in his last three starts, Gil was nipped for only four earned runs and eight hits in 19.2 frames. After the math, that equates to a 2-0 tally with a powerful 1.83 ERA.

Taking the mound for the home squad will be right-hander Brayan Bello. So far this year, No. 66 has made 11 starts and been tagged for 31 earned runs and 58 hits in 58.1 innings of work. Brayan fanned 51 and issued 21 free passes on his way to a 6-3 mark with a 4.78 ERA. Matched up against the White Sox, Tigers, and Orioles in his last three trips to the mound, Bello was bombed for 12 earned runs and 22 hits in 16.0 frames. After the math, that adds up to a 1-1 record with an elevated 6.75 ERA.

This is a solid wagering spot for the Pinstripes, too. New York has tasted victory in 27 of its last 39 as a guest, 32 of its last 46 under the lights, and 40 of its last 56 when facing a right-handed starter. Meanwhile, Boston has inked a poor 10-20 tally when fighting a foe that owns a team won/loss percentage greater than .500.

After picking up a series win over the NL-Leading Phillies, the Red Sox will have trouble coming right back and being forced to face the AL’s No. 1 squad. Take New York with Gil. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
