TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION THURSDAY, JUNE 6TH
#901 LA DODGERS RUN LINE with Buehler (-1′ -115) over Pittsburgh with Falter at 6:40 PM EST
Off a pair of blemishes to the Bucs and with five losses in their last 10 games, the Dodgers will get after it in this rematch and avoid being swept. Los Angeles is staring at a three-game weekend trip against the red-hot New York Yankees and manager Dave Roberts and his crew will have no trouble extending the margin here.
Right-hander Walker Buehler will grab the pearl for the visitors and stop the bleeding. So far this season, No. 21 has made five starts and been clipped for 12 earned runs and 26 hits in 25.0 frames. Walker struck out 24 and walked seven on his way to a 1-3 tally with a 4.32 ERA. In three career starts against the Bucs, Buehler has assembled a solid 2-0 tally with an outstanding 2.37 ERA.
Toeing the rubber for the home squad will be southpaw Bailey Falter. With 11 starts in the books, No. 26 has surrendered 23 earned runs and 45 hits in 64.1 innings of work. Bailey whiffed 38 and walked 16 on his way to a 3-2 mark with a 3.22 ERA. Overall, with four seasons to his credit, Falter has been slapped for 128 earned runs and 258 hits in 262.2 frames. That shakes down to a 13-16 tally with a 4.39 ERA.
There are a number of lucrative team trends that support this investment. Los Angeles has won 16 of its last 23 against left-handed starters, 27 of its last 43 under the lights, and 29 of its last 38 coming off a straight up loss of four runs or more.
The Dodgers own a 7.0-game advantage over the Padres in the NL West, and they need a win here to keep it that way. Take Los Angeles on the run line with Buehler. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
