TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SUNDAY, MARCH 17TH

#644 VCU (-2) over Duquesne at 1 PM EST
Off three consecutive straight up tournament wins over Fordham, Massachusetts, and St. Joseph’s, VCU will stroll into the A-10 Final and punch its ticket to the Big Dance with a solid performance over Duquesne. The Dukes enter this contest on a blistering 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS run, and head coach Keith Dambrot and his troops are in prime position to fall.

Revenge motivation will have the Rams fired up for this contest. VCU has posted a surprising 0-2 SU and ATS mark in its last two battles in this series and owns a rough 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings. Thankfully, favorites in the A-10 Tournament Final have been worth the financial risk inking an elite 23-8 SU and 21-9-1 ATS record. If our “play on” side is facing a foe that owns a team won/loss percentage of .650 or better, this technical situation tightens up to a lucrative 16-2 SU and 14-3-1 ATS including a golden 9-0 SU and ATS if they are priced competitively at -3 or less. Finally, when rolling with revenge of any kind and fighting a foe that enters with steam off a straight up win, head coach Ryan Odom and his boys hold a reliable 42-23-3 ATS tally including a stunning 31-10-2 ATS if they are favored.

Yes, Duquesne is playing well right now. The Dukes have quietly inked a 14-3 SU and 12-5 ATS record in their last 17 games. However, when going into revenge, Coach Dambrot and his boys have struggled a touch inking a weak 28-34 SU and 21-35-1 ATS record in their last 62 games. In this run priced as a favorite or an underdog of +3.5 or less, Duquesne falls to a miserable 14-29-1 ATS. Additionally, in the A-10 Conference Tournament priced as an underdog, the Dukes hold a timid 6-24 SU and 10-20 ATS mark in their last 30 tries including an ugly 4-20 SU and 7-17 ATS if their opponent is seeded at No. 7 or less.

The Rams are no stranger to the A-10 Championship game having participated in eight of the last 11 seasons and they’ll defend their title with a solid performance here. Take VCU. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
