TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SUNDAY, MARCH 10TH
#804 PURDUE (-9) over Wisconsin at 12:30 PM EST
Off four consecutive straight up wins over Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois, No. 3/3 Purdue will have no trouble dismissing Wisconsin in this Senior Day mismatch. The Badgers make the trek to West Lafayette off a SU and ATS Big 10 home win over the Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Gard and his troops will revert right back to their losing ways here.
Historically speaking, the Boilermakers have performed well in this series, inking a respectable 19-10-1 ATS record in their last 30 games. In this run battling a UW bunch that arrives with confidence off a straight up win, PU improves to an elite 14-4-1 ATS. Equally impressive, at home going into revenge, head coach Matt Painter’s crew owns a lucrative 104-69-3 ATS tally including an outstanding 71-40-2 ATS provided their opponent carries a team won/loss percentage less than .470. Please note: That last tightener is currently on a blistering 30-11-1 ATS run.
Kudos to the Badgers for busting up the Scarlet Knights. However, backing an exhausted Wisconsin squad that is just 3-7 SU and 1-9 ATS in its last 10 games isn’t going to happen. To make matters worse, Big 10 road underdogs that arrive off a SU and ATS home win hold a miserable 32-61-3 ATS mark provided they own a pointspread won/loss percentage less than .500 and are currently facing a conference foe that arrives off a SU and ATS victory. If our “play against” side is competing against a foe that owns four or more days of rest, this technical situation falls to a horrible 15-41-2 ATS.
This will be the final home game for six Boilermakers seniors and Coach Painter will make darn sure they walk off the floor with a blowout victory in hand. Take Purdue. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
