TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH

#618 FLORIDA (-15′) over Vanderbilt at 1 PM EST
Checking in hungry off that frustrating 98-93 road loss at Alabama, Florida will return home to Gainesville and blowout visiting Vanderbilt. The Commodores limp into this SEC showdown off a pair of SU and ATS conference losses to the Vols and Bulldogs and this will be a massive challenge for head coach Jerry Stackhouse and his troops.

Forget about the blemish to ‘Bama. Last year, the Gators faced the ‘Dores twice and lost both games by the final scores of 88-80 at home and 88-72 on the road. Head coach Todd Golden hasn’t forgotten about those two beatings, and he will have UF ready to rock and roll in this revenge matchup. When priced as a double-digit favorite and holding a team won/loss percentage of .670 or better, Florida owns a respectable 11-6 ATS tally provided its opponent sports a team won/loss percentage of .500 or less. Also, after wars against the Crimson Tide, the Gators have played extremely well in their next contest posting a proud 20-9 SU and 18-10-1 ATS record including an elite 7-2 ATS if they are competing with revenge of any kind.

This is a horrible wagering spot for Vanderbilt, too. The ‘Dores are currently on a woeful 7-20 SU and 10-16-1 ATS run including a poor 4-7 SU and 2-8-1 ATS provided their opponent checks in without steam off a straight up loss. Also, true road games have been an issue for Coach Stackhouse and his crew. As a guest, the Commodores own a rough 0-7 SU and 2-4-1 ATS record in their last seven tries. Finally, when stepping way up in class and fighting a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage of .675 or better, the ‘Dores own a weak 18-69 SU and 34-49-3 ATS mark including a stiff 5-32 SU and 10-25-2 ATS provided they carry a team won/loss percentage less than .500. With those two parameters live and Vandy taking the court without confidence off a SU and ATS loss, this team trend crashes to a disturbing 1-18 SU and 3-14-2 ATS.

Off a hard-fought overtime loss on the road to the Crimson Tide (No. 13), the Gators will be anxious to drop the hammer in this double revenge showdown. Take Florida. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
