TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH

#887 KANSAS ST (+8′) over Texas at 9 PM EST
In a bad mood off a pair of straight up losses to BYU and TCU and currently in the middle of a dismal 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS run, KSU will travel to Austin and take a bite out of Texas. The Longhorns are currently having problems of their own on a weak 9-16 ATS pointspread run and they shouldn’t be laying this many points to anyone right now.

Historically speaking, the Wildcats have played well on the road in this series notching a respectable 14-3 ATS record in their last 17 games. In this situation running the floor with three days of rest or less, K-State improves to a golden 11-0 ATS. Equally impressive, when priced as a pup of +7 or more and arriving without momentum off a SU and ATS loss, head coach Jerome Tang and his troops own a lucrative 40-25-3 ATS tally including a strong 40-21-3 ATS provided this is a regular season battle.

Holding a feeble 42-58-1 ATS record in its last 101 lined games, Texas has experienced some financial problems when playing in the comforts of home. In this situation sporting a team won/loss percentage of .570 or better, the Longhorns fall to a woeful 31-53-1 ATS including a stiff 10-25 ATS if they were on the road in their last game. Even worse, when competing against a foe that arrives without steam off a straight up loss, head coach Rodney Terry and his squad own a surprising 15-31 ATS tally including a miserable 10-25 ATS if they are priced as a favorite of -2 or more. With those two parameters in play and UT not rolling with revenge of any kind, this trend falls to a filthy 1-13 ATS.

As long as the Wildcats decide not to chuck it from the cheap seats (ranked 314th nationally in 3-point field goal percentage connecting on just 30.4 percent of their shots), their ability to score in the paint and at the charity stripe will keep them in this game. Take Kansas State. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
