TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION TUESDAY, JANUARY 23RD
#639 TOLEDO (-5′) over N Illinois at 8 PM EST
Checking in angry off their first MAC loss of the season, the Rockets will travel to Dekalb and pound the Huskies. Northern Illinois enters this conference battle on a horrible 1-10 SU and 0-10 ATS run in its last 11 games (0-7 SU and ATS in its last seven) and head coach Rashon Burno and his boys will get blasted here.
A quick peek at the History Book shows that UT has dominated this series lately inking a golden 4-0 SU and ATS mark in the last four meetings. Also, in MAC play arriving without steam off a straight up loss, the Rockets own a powerful 12-1 SU and 10-3 ATS tally. Lastly, since the start of the 2020 season, MAC road favorites priced short at -8 or less hold a noteworthy 64-28 SU and 54-36-2 ATS provided they are lined up against a conference foe. If our “play on” side is fighting a foe that stumbles in off two or more straight up losses, this technical situation jets to a magnificent 28-7 SU and 25-8-2 ATS.
The Huskies have a history of not cashing tickets at home, too. Since 1997, NIU owns a soft 139-161-7 ATS record on its home floor including a woeful 45-73-2 ATS if they played in DeKalb in their previous game. With those two parameters cranking away and Coach Burno’s troops sporting a team won/loss percentge of .375 or less, this team trend crashes to a horrible 17-42 SU and 12-41 ATS including a nasty 6-36 ATS if they are priced as a favorite or an underdog of +7 or less.
Before falling to the Chippewas, the Rockets had ripped off 20 consecutive straight up regular season conference wins. It’s time for UT to start a new streak. Take Toledo. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
