TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2ND
#323 MICHIGAN (-21′) over Iowa at 8 PM EST
With head coach Jim Harbaugh back on the sidelines and a ticket to the College Football Playoffs on the line, the Maize and Blue will have no trouble stuffing this overachieving Iowa squad. The Hawkeyes enter this contest with a 10-2 SU mark and, off four consecutive straight up wins, head coach Kirk Ferentz and his kids will finally meet their match in this Big 10 Championship Game.
In the last three meetings between these two conference warriors, the Wolverines have been in complete control inking an elite 3-0 SU and ATS record and won by the combined score of 79-20. Equally impressive, in its last 40 games, UM holds a powerful 37-3 SU and 25-14-1 ATS record including an elite 29-0 SU and 20-8-1 ATS mark provided neither team is rested. With those two parameters live and Coach Harbaugh’s boys arriving off a conference war, this team trend cruises to a solid 20-0 SU and 17-3 ATS. Finally, as a Big 10 favorite priced at -23 or less, Michigan owns a lucrative 28-15 ATS tally including 23-10 ATS if it holds a team won/loss percentage greater than .750.
This isn’t the best wagering spot for Iowa either. On the road or at a neutral site and priced as a double-digit underdog, the Hawkeyes have struggled posting a feeble 5-33-1 SU and 15-24 ATS record. In this setting fighting a foe that busts in with confidence off a SU and ATS victory, Coach Ferentz and his troops fall to a miserable 2-21 SU and 5-18 ATS including an ugly 0-18 SU and 2-16 ATS if their opponent holds a team won/loss percentage of .501 or better. Finally, in Big 10 play checking in with steam off two or more straight up wins, Iowa holds a soft 13-22 ATS tally provided they arrive off a pointspread victory as well.
If you want to beat the Maize and Blue, you’ll need to score some points. The Hawkeyes can’t do that. Take Michigan. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
