Since the All-Star break, Skubal has made 11 starts and been scratched for 25 earned runs and 52 hits in 61.1 frames. That shakes down to a 6-3 record with a reliable 3.67 ERA.
On the bump for the home team will be righty Luis Medina. Lined up against the Padres, Rangers, and Blue Jays in his last three outings, No. 46 was tagged for nine earned runs and 11 hits in 12.2 innings. Luis whiffed 13 and walked 10 on his way to an 0-1 mark with a weak 6.40 ERA. Under the lights, Medina has made 11 appearances (eight starts) and been slammed for 27 earned runs and 47 hits in 52.1 frames. That shakes down to a 2-3 tally with a 4.64 ERA.
Plenty of power trends work against the home team here. Oakland has dropped 106 of its last 152 overall, 53 of its last 77 in its own backyard and 56 of its last 90 at night. On the other side of the field, Detroit has tasted victory in 16 of its last 24 as a September guest.
