TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION FRIAY, JULY 28TH

#964 TORONTO RUN-LINE with Gausman (-1′ +105) over LA Angels with Giolito at 7:07 PM EST
Fresh off their victory in Chavez Ravine over the Dodgers and owning a day of rest, the Blue Jays will return home and knock off this exhausted Angels squad. Los Angeles scoots north of the border off a three-game road sweep at Detroit (that includes a DH victory yesterday) and the Halos will run out of gas in this contest.

Veteran right-hander Kevin Gausman will storm the mound for the home squad. Fighting the M’s, Tigers, BoSox, Giants, and Marlins in his last five starts, No. 34 was tripped for 12 earned runs and 26 hits in 29.0 innings. Keving fanned 41 and walked five on his way to a 1-2 mark with a respectable 3.72 ERA. The Rogers Centre has been kind to KG, too. In his own backyard, Gausman has surrendered only 17 earned runs and 46 hits in 59.1 frames. That’s good enough for a 2-1 record with an outstanding 2.58 ERA.

Former White Sox arm Lucas Giolito will make his first start for the visitors since being traded with reliever Reynaldo Lopez for two prospects. In his last three performances for the Pale Hose, LG was blasted for 10 earned runs and 14 hits in 15.2 innings of work. Lucas struck out 19 and walked 11 on his way to an 0-1 mark with a weak 5.75 ERA. Additionally, with seven career starts against the Jays in the bank, Giolito has put together a 2-2 tally with a soft 5.45 ERA.

Technically speaking, this is a solid wagering spot for the Blue Birds. Toronto has won 28 of its last 44 against AL competition outside of its division and 27 of its last 47 when playing in its own backyard. On the flip side of the field, with Giolito holding the pearl, his team holds a feeble 4-17 mark provided they are priced as an underdog of +100 or more and 10 of its last 11 when playing on Friday.

Off a pair of road wins over the Motor City Kitty’s by the combined score of 17-4 (11-4 and 6-0), the Halos will get a quick reality check here. Take Toronto on the run-line with Gausman. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
