TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, APRIL 15TH
#506 CLEVELAND (-5) over NY Knicks at 6 PM EST
The Cavaliers are locked into a lucrative 27-7 ATS NBA Playoff situation and they’ll have no trouble protecting their homecourt and knocking off the Knicks in this opening battle. New York stumbles into this contest off back-to-back SU and ATS losses to New Orleans and Indiana and the Boys from the Big Apple will have trouble in this situation as well.
It certainly won’t take much for Cleveland to get up for this contest. After posting a 121-108 win and cover at home in the first meeting this season back on October 30th, 2022, the Cavs inked an ugly 0-3 SU and ATS mark in their last three battles against the Knicks. Thankfully, when competing in their own backyard, the Cavs have been worth the financial risk inking an elite 32-12 SU and 25-17-2 ATS record. In this run fighting a conference foe, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and his boys improve to a lucrative 21-8 SU and 17-10-2 ATS. Also, at home competing with same season triple revenge or more, Cleveland holds a respectable 33-16 ATS mark including an elite 29-11 ATS provided this is a conference game.
Clinging to a weak 20-36 SU and 19-34-3 ATS tally, playoff basketball has given the Knicks fits lately. In this run fighting a non-division foe, New York falls to a nasty 12-23 SU and 10-24-1 ATS including a woeful 2-14 SU and 2-13-1 ATS if they are playing on the road. Also, in game one of the opening round of the playoffs, No. 5 seeds hold a soft 8-19 SU and 11-16 ATS record provided they are fighting a No. 4 seed that takes the floor off a straight up loss. If our “play against” side takes the court off a straight up loss as well, this technical situation falls to a horrible 3-8 SU and ATS. That spells trouble for the Boys from the Big Apple.
The Knicks have owned the Cavs in the last three meetings. Coach Bickerstaff and his players will get their sweet revenge when it matters the most. Take Cleveland. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
