Tom Stryker’s Free Basketball Play March 18th

TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, MARCH 18TH

#801 FURMAN (+5′) over San Diego St at 12:10 PM EST
The Paladins apply to an awesome 27-2 ATS NCAA Tournament system and they are in prime position to pull off the upset over the Aztecs in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. San Diego State enters this Big Dance battle off a couple of SU and ATS victories over Utah State in the MWC Championship Game and Charleston in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, and this will be a difficult spot for head coach Brian Dutcher and his boys.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, Furman has been playing extremely well lately inking a solid 18-2 SU and 15-5 ATS record in its last 20 games. If the Paladins were priced as an underdog or a favorite of -12 or less in this run, this team trend improves to a nearly perfect 12-1 SU and ATS. Also, in the NCAA Tournament, teams matched up against an opponent that arrives off back-to-back SU and ATS wins own a lucrative 81-45-1 ATS mark provided their foe holds a team won/loss percentage of .745 or higher. If our “play on” side is fighting a foe that takes the floor off a blowout win of six points or more, this Big Dance system improves to a rewarding 71-34-1 ATS including a phenomenal 36-11 ATS provided they are seeded at No. 8 or higher. That bodes well for head coach Bob Richey and his kids.

This isn’t the best wagering spot for San Diego State either. In the NCAA Tournament, teams from the Mountain West Conference have been a poor investment posting a horrible 23-58 SU and 25-55-1 ATS record. If our “play against” side is fighting a foe that hits the floor with confidence off back-to-back SU and ATS wins, this technical situation crashes to a woeful 3-12 US SU and 1-14 ATS including a shocking 0-9 SU and ATS if they arrive off a pointspread victory. That spells trouble for the Aztecs.

The Paladins are a force offensively and they’ll find just enough points to pull off this minor upset. Take Furman. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
