#648 GEORGE WASHINGTON (-1′) over St Joseph’s at 5 PM EST
Off a hard-fought six-point home loss to VCU in its last regular season game and a string of five pointspread victories, George Washington will crank up its high-octane offense up and run right past St. Joseph’s in this Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament battle.
A quick glance at the History Book shows that the Colonials have played well in this series posting a 4-2 SU record in the last six meetings. Equally impressive, in the second round of the A-10 Tourney, teams playing with rest priced as a favorite of -12 or less own a powerful 13-0 SU and 9-4 ATS record provided they are running the floor against an opponent competing in the second of a back-to-back. Also, in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament priced competitively between -3 and +1, George Washington owns a profitable 11-3 SU and 10-4 ATS tally in its last 14 tries.
On an emotional high off back-to-back straight up underdog wins over Richmond and Loyola, St. Joseph’s will crash and burn in this spot. In the A-10 Tournament, teams hitting the hardwood off an upset victory (priced as a pup in their last game) hold a woeful 45-80 SU and 52-72-1 ATS record. If our “play against” side is priced as an underdog, this technical situation falls to a miserable 18-69 SU and 31-55-1 ATS including a horrible 4-18 SU and 5-17 ATS if they are running the floor against a foe that arrives without momentum off a straight up loss. That spells trouble for the Hawks (and Explorers).
The Colonials are tops in the conference in scoring averaging 76.3 points per game and they’ll have no trouble lighting up the scoreboard in this postseason matchup. Take George Washington. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
