TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH
#706 UTAH ST (-) over Boise St at 9 PM EST
Firing on all cylinders off four straight wins and covers and with the memory of its 82-59 loss to Boise State back on January 7th still fresh, Utah State will crank its game up a notch and pick up this huge win and cover on Senior Night. The Broncos enter this MWC war off a huge SU and ATS victory over the mighty Aztecs and head coach Leon Rice and his troops will get slammed in this spot.
To say that the Aggies want revenge here would be an understatement. In case you haven’t noticed, USU owns a disturbing 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS mark in the last seven games in this series and a horrible 0-5 SU and ATS tally in its last five. Thankfully, when priced as a single-digit favorite and hitting the hardwood with momentum off a straight up win, Utah State owns a phenomenal 31-11 SU and 30-12 ATS record including a respectable 19-6 SU and 18-7 ATS provided it holds a team won/loss percentage of .601 or better. Also, when checking in off a straight up win and now stepping up in class and fighting a greater than .700 foe that takes the floor off a pointspread victory, the Aggies own a respectable 50-31-1 ATS mark.
Respect is certainly given to a BSU stop unit that is currently ranked No. 1 in the conference in scoring (63.0 ppg) and field goal defense (40.7%). However, matched up against a USU high-octane offense that is currently ranked second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.402) and 33rd in scoring (avg 78.8 points per game), the Broncos are going to have their hands full inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday night. To make matters worse, in conference play fighting a foe that arrives with confidence off back-to-back SU and ATS wins, Boise State holds a timid 11-18 ATS tally including a woeful 7-18 ATS provided it does not take the floor off a blowout loss of 10 points or more.
The Aggies will be saying good-bye to five seniors and they want to send them off with a revenge victory over the Broncos. Take Utah State. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
