TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH
#386 NOTRE DAME (-20′) over Boston College at 2:30 PM EST
Off four consecutive straight up wins and last week’s ugly second-half performance versus Navy, Notre Dame will return home on Senior Day and smash visiting Boston College. The Eagles make the trek to Indiana off last week’s shocking 21-20 road win (priced as a hefty +19.5-point underdog) over the Wolfpack and that upset will certainly keep the Fighting Irish focused for this rivalry game.
A quick look at the History Book shows that head coach Marcus Freeman’s troops have been in control of this series lately posting a strong 8-0 SU record (4-4 ATS) in the last eight meetings. In addition, inside Notre Dame Stadium arriving with confidence off a straight up win, the Irish have been worth the wager notching a solid 26-2 SU and 17-11 ATS mark in their last 28 games. As long as the Dame was on the road or at a neutral site in their last battle, this team trend improves to a reliable 13-2 SU and 10-5 ATS. Also, when holding a pointspread won/loss percentage of .500 or less, UND owns a profitable 31-5 SU and 24-12 ATS record in its last 36 tries including a powerful 18-6 ATS in its last 24 provided they take the field with confidence off a straight up win.
After last Saturday’s shocking upset win at NC State, this will be a difficult encore for the Eagles. Since 1987, game eight road dogs priced at +17 or more hold a horrible 2-43 SU and 15-30 ATS record provided they won straight up as double-digit pup in their last battle. If our “play against” side was priced between +10 and +19.5 last, this quick system falls to a stiff 1-33 SU and 8-26 ATS. In addition, BC is on a soft 5-13 SU and 6-11 ATS run in its last 18 games including just 1-5 SU and ATS if its opponent holds a team won/loss percentage of .700 or better.
The Fighting Irish offense was embarrassed with its performance in the second half against the Midshipmen and they’ll look to start fast and score often in this Senior Day setting. Take Notre Dame. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
