TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1ST
#204 KENT (-12′) over Ohio at 3:30 PM EST
Off a brutal non-conference schedule that featured absolute wars against Washington, Oklahoma, and Georgia, Kent will find all kinds of success when it steps down in class and battles Ohio on Homecoming Day. The Bobcats are a mess defensively allowing an average of 44.8 points and 538.3 yards per game this season and they’ll get steamrolled by a Golden Flashes offense that is good for an average of 27.0 points and 368.0 total yards per game.
Since the start of the 2019 season, Kent has really elevated its play at home inking a phenomenal 12-1 SU and 7-3 ATS record. Equally impressive, when battling the Bobcats, the Golden Flashes hold a profitable 13-7 ATS mark including a nearly perfect 7-1 ATS if they played on the road in their last game. There is a strong MAC angle that applies here as well. Technically speaking, double-digit MAC home favorites in conference play hold a money-making 27-13 ATS mark provided they smashed the Las Vegas pointspread by 10 points or more last and their opponent arrives with steam off a straight up win. If our “play on” side is tackling a foe that played in the comforts of home last, this MAC situation cruises to an elite 20-7 ATS.
Ohio hasn’t exactly been one of the better teams in the conference either. In fact, the Bobcats hold a weak 13-18 SU and 11-18 ATS mark in their last 31 games. In this set priced as a pup of +5.5 or more, the Green & White fall to a shocking 0-5 SU and ATS. Please note: Those five beatings came by an average of 29.0 points per game. Also, in MAC openers, Ohio holds a dismal 8-16 ATS record in its last 24 tries including a rough 3-11 ATS if their opponent holds a team won/loss percentage of .250 or better.
The Golden Flashes have won 10 straight inside the friendly confines of Dix Stadium and their proud defense will be fired up knowing a Bobcats offense that shredded Fordham for 59 points and 692 total yards last week is coming to town. Take Kent. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
