TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH
#962 SAN DIEGO with Snell (+102) over LA Dodgers with Anderson at 9:40 PM EST
With plenty of confidence off back-to-back road wins over the Rockies and currently locked into the No. 2 slot in the NL Wildcard standings, the Friars will give their old division rival fits in this matchup. Los Angeles enters this contest off a pair of home wins over St. Louis and this will prove to be a tough spot for manager Dave Roberts and his crew.
Veteran southpaw Blake Snell will toe the rubber for the home team. In his last two starts, No. 4 has been in a zone allowing only one earned run and six hits in 14.0 innings of work. Snell struck out 20 and walked two on his way to a 2-0 record with a solid 0.645 ERA. To say that Blake wants this game badly would be an understatement. Back on September 10th, Snell faced the Dodgers at home and got slapped for five earned runs, three walks, and seven hits in only 4.0 frames. Blake was tagged with the loss in the Padres 8-4 defeat.
Countering for the visitors will be left-hander Tyler Anderson. So far this season, No. 31 has appeared in 28 games for LA (26 starts) and been zapped for 47 earned runs and 136 hits in 167.2 innings. Anderson whiffed 125 and walked 34 on his way to a 15-4 tally with an elite 2.52 ERA. Tyler has performed well in this series too. In fact, in his last two starts against the Dodgers, Anderson surrendered one earned run and eight hits in 13.1 frames. That breaks down to a 2-0 record with a 0.68 ERA.
With both arms capable, the following team trends will push this Best Bet over the edge. San Diego has tasted victory in seven of its last nine overall, four straight after scoring five runs or more last, and 15 of its last 17 coming off a day of rest.<br.
It’s never easy fading the Dodgers. However, Blake is in a zone right now and his personal revenge will keep him fired up for this rematch. Grab San Diego with Snell. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
