TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION THURSDAY, MARCH 31ST
#590 UTAH (-13) over LA Lakers at 10 PM EST
On an ugly 0-5 SU and ATS run and with all of those whippings coming on the road, the Jazz will return home and do a number on the struggling Lakers. Los Angeles enters this Western Conference battle off three consecutive straight up losses and, on a dismal 5-16 SU and 7-13-1 ATS run in its last 21 games, head coach Frank Vogel and his boys will have issues here once again.
If the five blemishes won’t have Utah focused for this contest, then double revenge motivation will do the trick. The Jazz dropped a 101-95 decision to the Lakers on the road back on January 17th and slipped again as a guest in LA on February 16th by the final of 106-101. Thankfully, at home in this series, head coach Quin Snyder’s boys have quietly inked a solid 13-3 SU record. Also, since 2002, Utah has been a force when hosting an opponent that arrives without confidence off two or more SU and ATS losses notching a sensational 106-25 SU and 84-45-2 ATS mark. If the Jazz dance in here off two or more straight up losses as well, this angle improves to a solid 23-4 SU and 20-7 ATS record including a golden 8-0 SU and ATS in their last eight provided they are running with same season revenge.
Holding a weak 48-65 SU and 44-66-3 ATS mark in its last 113 games, Los Angeles is obviously having a number of issues on the court right now. In this run competing against a Western Conference foe, the Lakers drop to a dismal 25-42 SU and 22-43-2 ATS including a nasty 11-25 SU and 12-22-2 ATS if their opponent holds a team won/loss percentage greater than .490. Also, when running the floor with exactly one day of rest, LA sports a soft 34-56-2 ATS tally including a feeble 7-18-2 ATS if LBJ and the boys hit the court off two or more straight up losses.
Injuries have taken a toll on both teams. However, the Jazz are back in the comforts of home, and they’ll be anxious for a little payback in this contest. Take Utah. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
