TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, MARCH 12TH
#618 HOUSTON (-13′) over Tulane at 3 PM EST
With confidence off yesterday’s win and cover over Cincinnati, Houston will have no trouble eliminating Tulane and moving on to the AAC Championship Game tomorrow. The Green Wave enter this contest off a huge 69-60 win and cover over the Owls and they’ll have all kinds of trouble when they step up in class and battle the mighty Cougars.
A quick peek at the series history shows that head coach Kelvin Sampson’s troops have been in complete control notching a powerful 21-7 SU and 19-9 ATS record in the last 28 meetings. In this situation taking the floor with confidence off a straight up win, UH improves to a rewarding 16-4 SU and 15-5 ATS. Also, since January 20th, 2018, the Cougars have dominated conference foes posting a reliable 76-17 SU and 57-35-1 ATS tally including a money-making 32-1 SU and 25-7-1 ATS provided they are priced as a favorite of -12 or more.
This is a poor wagering spot for Tulane too. When fighting a foe that checks in off a double-digit straight up victory, the Green Wave have been at their financial worst posting a rough 91-122-4 ATS record. In this setting priced as an underdog, head coach Ron Hunter’s boys slip to a miserable 43-77-2 ATS including a disturbing 11-25 ATS if their opponent owns a team won/loss percentage of .801 or better. Also, teams seeded at No. 5 or higher in semifinal round of the AAC Tournament hold a soft 3-7 ATS tally in their last 10 tries.
Coach Sampson has his kids focused on a conference tournament championship and they’ll have no trouble pounding this mediocre Green Wave bunch. Take Houston. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
