TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH

#803 BYU (-12′) over Pepperdine at 10 PM EST
On a surprising 3-4 SU and 0-7 ATS run and off a one-point win at Loyola Marymount, look for BYU to finally break out of its pointspread slump and dominate Pepperdine from start to finish. The Waves enter this WCC battle on a dismal 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS run in their last 10 games and, off a rare home win and cover over the Pac-Rat, head coach Lorenzo Romar’s boys will fall right back into their losing ways here.

Off the overtime road win versus the Lions and with a date at No. 22 St. Mary’s up next on Saturday, February 19th, the Cougars can give this game the attention it deserves. In this series, head coach Mark Pope’s kids have played well posting a proud 9-2 SU (5-5-1 ATS) record in the last 11 meetings. Equally impressive, when priced as a road favorite of -7 or more, the Stormin’ Mormons have been worth the financial risk inking a strong 44-19-1 ATS mark including a powerful 34-13-1 ATS provided they hit the hardwood with steam off a straight up win. With those two parameters cranking away and the Blue & White off an ATS loss, this angle cruises to an elite 16-2 SU and 15-3 ATS.

This is not the spot you want to open up your wallet for Pepperdine either. At home busting in off a pointspread win, the Waves have been a terrible investment notching a stiff 44-72-3 ATS record. In this run fighting a foe that owns a team won/loss percentage of .575 or better, Coach Romar’s troops fall to a miserable 18-36-2 ATS. Also, West Coast Conference home dogs own a weak 52-198 SU and 103-142-5 ATS tally provided they are matched up against a conference foe that enters off an ATS loss. If our “play against” side holds a team won/loss percentage less than .430, this situation crashes to a woeful 25-120 SU and 55-88-2 ATS. That spells trouble for the Waves.

The Cougars don’t play another game for a week and that means they’ll give the Waves everything they’ve got. A determined effort by the Stormin’ Mormons will help us get over this hefty number. Take BYU. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
