TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30TH
#164 USC (-21) over Arizona at 7 PM EST
In a bad mood off that frustrating loss at Notre Dame, USC will return home and take its frustrations out on an Arizona team that doesn’t have the athletes needed right now to compete with the talented Trojans. The Wildcats may have given the Huskies a scare in their own backyard last Saturday. However, on the road at night in the LA Memorial Coliseum, head coach Jeff Fisch and his troops are going to get hammered.
According to our college football database, the short history in this series favors a Men of Troy squad that has posted a solid 8-0 SU and 6-2 ATS mark in the last eight meetings. In addition, when fighting at home off two or more straight up losses, USC has been worth the financial risk notching a respectable 13-8 SU and 15-6 ATS record. Provided the Trojans are tackling a foe that played at home in their last game, this team trend cruises to a solid 11-5 SU and 12-4 ATS mark. Finally, when lined up against an opponent that holds a team won/loss percentage of .300 or less, USC carries a reliable 30-18 ATS mark as long as their foe arrives off a straight up loss.
Clinging to an ugly 0-19 SU and 5-13 ATS tally in their last 19 games, the ‘Cats are obviously having serious issues right now. Even worse, when lined up against a foe that checks in off a straight up loss, UA has been a horrible investment notching a stiff 19-32-2 ATS mark including an ugly 16-31-1 ATS provided this is not their last home game. Also, as a guest fighting a foe that hits the field off two or more straight up losses, Arizona holds a soft 18-30-1 ATS record including a rough 15-28-1 ATS provided this is a Pac-12 game. Lastly, as a double-digit underdog, the Wildcats sport a timid 8-14 ATS in their last 22 including a disturbing 4-14 ATS in this set provided they check in off a conference battle.
If the Trojans want to go bowling this year, a victory here is essential. The Men of Troy actually played a solid football game against the Fighting Irish but made too many mistakes in the end. This time, interim head coach Donte Williams’ kids will put it all together and win an easy one. Take USC. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
