TOM STRYKER’S FREE FOOTBALL SELECTION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD
#251 WASHINGTON (-1′) over Atlanta at 1 PM EST
It’s gut-check time for the Football Team. Out of the gate with a 1-2 SU record and off that ugly 43-21 loss at Buffalo, Washington will respond in a big way when it visits Atlanta on Sunday. The Falcons enter this contest off a nice upset road win in the Big Apple over the G-Men and this will be a difficult encore for Matty Ice and the boys.
This is actually a sound wagering spot for the Football Team. Since 1980, NFL non-division road teams hold a profitable 42-24-1 ATS record provided they allowed 40 points or more on the road last and arrive off a SU and ATS loss. If our “play on” side is tackling a foe that was on foreign soil in their last game as well, this technical situation cruises to an elite 33-10-1 ATS including a sensational 29-6-1 ATS if they are priced as an underdog or a favorite of -2 or less. With those three parameters in play and our guest facing a foe that scoots in off a non-division game, this system jumps to a jaw-dropping 19-0 ATS. Washington fits all four pieces of that perfect technical puzzle.
Kudos to the Falcons for beating up on the hapless Giants last Sunday. Backing Atlanta here off that upset win isn’t going to happen. Since 2018, Hotlanta has been ice-cold posting a woeful 19-32 SU and 20-30-1 ATS record in their last 51 games. In that run tackling a non-division opponent, the Falcons fall to a miserable 10-22 SU and 11-20-1 ATS. Also, NFL game four teams that bring a 1-2 SU record to the table sport a pathetic 11-30-2 ATS mark provided their opponent checks in off a blowout loss of 10 points or more. That spells trouble for Atlanta as well.
The Football Team’s proud defense was absolutely embarrassed last weekend and they’ll be itching to get back on the field and perform better. Off the win over the Giants, the Falcons will revert back to their losing ways. Take Washington. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
