Tom Stryker’s Free Baseball Play August 10th

TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION TUESDAY, AUGUST 10TH

#953 LA DODGERS with Scherzer (-155) over Philadelphia with Nola at 7:05 PM EST
Checking in with plenty of steam off back-to-back home wins over the Halos, the Dodgers will travel to the City of Brotherly Love and knock off the Phillies. Winners of eight straight, Philadelphia will finally meet its match in this battle of MLB’s heavyweights.

Hitting the hill for the visitors will be elite right-hander Max Scherzer. In his first start for LA at home against the ‘Stros on August 4th, No. 31 was nicked for only two earned runs and five hits in 7.0 innings. Scherzer fanned 10, walked one, and picked up the dub in the Dodgers 7-5 victory. History will be on Mad Max’s side too. In 24 career starts against the Phils, Scherzer has posted an eye-popping 14-4 record with a stunning 2.55 ERA.

Up on the hill for the home team will be righty Aaron Nola. In his last performance on August 5th on the road against the Nats, No. 27 was roughed up for five earned runs and five hits in 5.0 frames. Nola whiffed seven, walked three, and failed to earn a decision in the Phillies 7-6 victory. The fact that this game is being played under the lights is going to be a problem for Aaron too. At night, Nola has been nuked for 45 earned runs and 81 hits in 71.2 innings. After the math, that equates to a dismal 4-6 mark with an elevated 5.65 ERA.

There are plenty of quality trends that support this money-maker. Los Angeles has come out on top in 37 of its last 52 when playing on Tuesday, 41 of its last 58 when checking in off a day of rest, 68 of its last 100 priced as road chalk, and 75 of its last 111 when taking the field off a win. On the flip side of Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia has slipped in seven of its last 10 in this series, 21 of its last 31 after allowing two runs or less last, and eight of its last 11 following an off day.

With a 4.0-game deficit in the NL West, the Dodgers will pick up a quality road win against one of the hottest teams in the baseball right now. Take Los Angeles with Scherzer. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
