TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION TUESDAY, JULY 20TH

#924 CHICAGO with Keuchel (-138) over Minnesota with Ober at 8:10 PM EST
Off yesterday’s doubleheader split and with victories in eight of their last 10 games, the White Sox will swipe another win on Tuesday night. The Pale Hose own a commanding 8.5-game lead in the AL Central, and they can pad that advantage with another dub here.

Toeing the rubber for the ChiSox will be southpaw Dallas Keuchel. In his last start at Baltimore on July 9th, No. 60 tossed a gem allowing only one earned run and seven hits in 7.0 innings of work. Keuchel fanned three, walked one, and picked up the win in the Sox’s 12-1 victory over the O’s. Dallas has been at his best under the lights too. At night, Keuchel has been nipped for only 24 earned runs and 57 hits in 59.2 frames. After the math, that equates to a solid 5-1 tally with an elite 3.62 ERA.

Young right-hander Bailey Ober will counter for the visiting Twinkies. So far this season, No. 82 has made eight starts and been crunched for 20 earned runs and 34 hits in 33.0 innings. Ober holds a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 37-11 and sports a 1-1 mark with a soft 5.45 ERA. Three of those outings this year came against the White Sox too! Against the Pale Hose, Bailey has been bombed for nine earned runs and 11 hits in 12.1 frames. That adds up to a 1-1 record with a feeble 6.57 ERA.

Plenty of outstanding team trends support this Best Bet. Chicago has won five of its last six in the third game of a series, 45 of its last 60 when priced as a favorite, 50 of its last 68 when facing a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage less than .500, and 50 of its last 74 against division foes. On the other side of Guaranteed Rate Field, Minnesota has slipped in seven of its last 10 against a left-handed starter and 23 of its last 32 when priced as a road underdog.

The experience on the bump favors that home team and that will prove to be the difference in this AL Central battle. Take Chicago with Keuchel. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
