Tom Stryker’s Free Baseball Play June 11th

TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASEBALL SELECTION FRIDAY, JUNE 11TH

#908 NY METS with DeGrom (-170) over San Diego with Snell at 7:10 PM EST
With plenty of steam off that 14-1 blowout road win at Baltimore and a day of rest, the Boys from the Big Apple will stay hot when San Diego visits on Friday evening. The Mets have the best arm in baseball on the bump and he will be the key to this victory.

Hitting the hill for New York will be ace right-hander Jacob deGrom. In his last three outings against the Padres, Diamondbacks, and Rockies, No. 48 was nicked for only one earned run and eight hits in 18.0 innings of work. Amazingly, deGrom fanned 28 and walked only one batter on his way to a 2-0 tally with a sensational 0.50 ERA. Jacob has been lights out at night too. With the moon shining, deGrom has surrendered only two earned runs and 16 hits in 39.0 frames. That equates to a 3-1 tally with a jaw-dropping 0.46 ERA.

Southpaw Blake Snell will counter for the Friars. In his last three trips to the bump against the Mets, Astros and Brew Crew, No. 4 was popped for 12 earned runs and 11 hits in 13.2 innings. Blake struck out 20 and walked seven en route to a 1-2 record with a stiff 7.90 ERA. Pitching on the road has been a problem for Snell too. On foreign soil, Blake has been smashed for 23 earned runs and 26 hits in 21.1 frames. That equates to a horrible 0-2 mark and an ugly 9.70 ERA.

Plenty of power angles line up on this investment. New York has won eight of its last nine as a home favorite, 13 of its last 16 after allowing two runs or less in its last game, 20 of its last 28 against NL West foes, and 14 of its last 18 as chalk. On the flip side, San Diego has dropped 43 of its last 64 as a pup and eight of its last 10 matched up against a right-handed starter.

In what should be another classic pitching battle, the strength of Citi Field (where the Mets have gone 15-5 SU) will be the difference. Take New York with deGrom. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
