TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, MAY 29TH
#578 MEMPHIS (+5) over Utah at 9:30 PM EST
The Grizzlies apply to an NBA Playoff system that holds a sweet 64-35 ATS record (that won with the Hawks last night) and they’ll give the No. 1-seeded Jazz a game on Saturday night. Utah will be anxious to regain its homecourt advantage with a win, but Memphis isn’t going to put up a serious fight.
This is actually a strong wagering spot for Memphis. Since 1993, NBA Playoff Round 1 Game 3 hosts hold a tremendous 50-32-1 ATS record provided the series is tied 1-1. If our “play on” side takes the court off a pointspread loss, this technical situation jumps to a sensational 24-10 ATS. Equally impressive, when checking in off a blowout loss of 10 points, the Grizz hold a strong 25-12 ATS mark including an elite 23-7 ATS provided this is a non-division game.
Utah’s No. 1 seed and need to regain homecourt advantage is noted. However, this isn’t the best wagering spot for the Jazz. On the road, Utah has forgotten how to dance posting a weak 10-12 SU and 8-14 ATS mark in their last 22 games. In this role checking in off the comforts of a home game, the Jazz fall to a miserable 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS. Also, as a postseason guest, head coach Quin Snyder’s boys own a pitiful 12-45 SU and 25-32 ATS record in their last 57 tries including an ugly 5-24 SU and 9-20 ATS provided they hold a team won/loss percentage of .620 or better. With those two parameters live and Utah priced as a favorite or an underdog of +6.5 or less, this team trend falls to a miserable 5-17 SU an ATS.
If the Grizzlies can knock off the Jazz on the road, then you have to believe they can hang within this inflated number in their own backyard. Take Memphis. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
