#654 VIRGINIA TECH (-11) over Wake Forest at 4 PM EST
In a really bad mood off that ugly 69-53 home loss to Georgia Tech, No. 16/15 Virginia Tech will rebound in a massive way on Senior Day when Wake Forest comes to town. The Demon Deacons (6-12 SU, 3-12 SU ACC) enter this ACC battle on a woeful 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS run and they are in the wrong place at the absolute worst time.
A quick peek at the History Book shows that the Hokies have performed well in this series posting a proud 17-6 SU and 13-9-1 ATS mark in the last 23 meetings. In this run checking in off the comforts of a home game, head coach Mike Young’s troops improve to an elite 11-3 SU and 10-4 ATS. Also, at home taking the floor off a straight up home loss, Tech sports a strong 12-1 SU and 7-5 ATS mark including 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS if they are fighting a conference foe. Finally, as an ACC host battling an opponent that arrives off the comforts of a home game, the Hokies own a respectable 23-9 SU and 21-11 ATS mark including an elite 13-3 SU and ATS provided they check in off a straight up loss.
The struggles are real for Wake Forest right now. In their last 97 games, the Demon Deacons hold an ugly 33-64 SU and 40-49 ATS record including a woeful 16-56 SU and 29-43 ATS if they are running the floor against a conference opponent. With those two parameters live and head coach Steve Forbes’ kids arriving off the comforts of a home game, this team trend falls to a miserable 6-30 SU and 13-23 ATS. Also, when matched up against a foe that takes the floor off a straight up loss as a favorite, Wake holds a feeble 3-18 SU and 6-13-2 ATS tally including a pitiful 0-16 SU and 4-11-1 ATS if this is an ACC battle.
After their COVID-related 17-day break, the Hokies turned in a clunker against the Yellow Jackets. Off that blemish and with their legs coming back, Coach Young’s kids will bounce back with a solid effort against the Demon Deacons. Take Virginia Tech. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
