TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH
#667 ST. LOUIS (-17) over Fordham at 3:30 PM EST
With plenty of confidence off back-to-back straight up home wins over St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island, St. Louis will travel to Fordham on Saturday afternoon and demolish the Rams. Interim head coach Mike DePaoli’s kids enter this A-10 battle off an ugly 77-45 road loss at George Mason and they are in perfect position to get blasted once again.
The History Book will lend the visitor a hand in this matchup. The Billikens have been in a zone in this series lately posting a proud 12-3 SU and 9-6 ATS record and that includes a nearly perfect 5-1 ATS tally if they are laying doubles. Also, St. Louis has been a cash cow in its last 110 lined games notching a rewarding 73-46-1 ATS record. In this run facing a foe that holds a pointspread won/loss percentage of .500 or better, head coach Travis Ford’s boys carry a powerful 41-19 ATS mark in their last 60 tries.
There are a ton of great homecourts in college basketball. Unfortunately for the Rams, Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx isn’t one of them. At home, Fordham has posted a woeful 68-96-6 ATS record in its last 170 lined games including a feeble 49-74-4 ATS if they are running against a conference foe. With those two parameters in play and the Rams battling an opponent that scoots in off the comforts of a home game, this team trend falls to a nasty 29-50-3 ATS including an eye-popping 3-25 SU and 4-22-2 ATS in this set if their opponent enters off a pointspread loss.
Still on the outside looking in at the AP Poll, Coach Ford will make sure his kids keep the petal to the metal until they make enough noise until they are finally one of the best 25 teams in the land. The Billikens can name the final score in this blowout. Take St. Louis. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
