TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION MONDAY, AUGUST 17TH
#660 OHIO ST (-24) over Morehead St at 5 PM EST
Checking in off a pair of double-digit straight up home wins over Illinois State and UMass Lowell, Ohio State will administer another beating when Morehead State comes to town. The Eagles enter this contest with a 1-2 SU record and off a victory over Arkansas State and this will prove to be a tough trip for head coach Preston Spradlin’s crew.
Technically speaking, this is a solid spot for OSU. In their own backyard arriving with confidence off two or more straight up wins and favored, the Buckeyes hold a reliable 62-43-1 ATS mark provided they played in the comforts of home last. In this role laying -25 or less, Ohio State tightens up to a spectacular 57-35-1 ATS including a lucrative 26-11 ATS if its opponent arrives off a straight up win. Also, in their last 13 at home against non-conference foes, the Buckeyes own a strong 13-0 SU and 6-1 ATS mark.
Kudos to Morehead State for knocking off ASU in its last game. Unfortunately, the Eagles are just 10-21 SU and 12-15-2 ATS in their last 31 battles including 0-8 SU and 2-5 ATS in their last eight running the court against a foe that arrives off a straight up win. Even worse, when priced as a hefty underdog of +24 or more, MSU carries a disturbing 0-12 SU and 2-10 ATS record and has dropped those 12 wars by an average of 39.6 points per game.
The Buckeyes have been an offensive machine this season averaging 84.0 points per game. Inside the Covelli Center for their battle in a row, head coach Chris Holtmann’s boys will put on a show. Take Ohio State. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
