#905 NY YANKEES with Garcia (-129) over Toronto with Roark at 6:37 PM EST
It’s gut-check time for the Bronx Bombers. Off six consecutive losses and resting 6.5-games back in the AL East behind the first-place Devils Rays, the Yankees need to make a move right now or they’ll be in danger of missing the playoffs.

In order to stop the bleeding, manager Aaron Boone will hand the pearl to young right-hander Deivi Garcia. In a pair of outings against the Orioles and Mets, No. 83 was touched for four earned runs and nine hits in 10.2 innings. Garcia struck out 12 and walked a pair en route to an 0-1 mark with a 3.38 ERA. Both of those outings came on the road so Deivi won’t be intimidated with his surroundings here.

Journeyman Tanner Roark will counter for the Blue Jays. In his last three starts against the Red Sox, O’s and Devil Rays, No. 14 was slammed for 11 earned runs and 21 hits in 14.1 frames. Roark fanned 13 and walked six on his way to an 0-0 mark and a lofty 6.91 ERA. Home starts haven’t been kind to Tanner either. In his own backyard, Roark has been roughed up for seven earned runs and 12 hits in 9.0 frames covering a pair of outings. After the math, that adds up to an 0-0 record and a woeful 7.00 ERA.

Technical support lines up on this elite wager too. New York has cashed 39 of its last 55 after allowing two runs or less, 36 of its last 52 in the third game of a series and 26 of its last 37 facing a foe that gave up two runs or less in their last contest. On the flip side, Toronto has fallen in 38 of its last 54 in the third game of a series and 14 of its last 19 after scoring two runs or less in its previous game.

With 42 games in the books and a 6.5-game deficit in the division, the Yankees know what needs to be done. Take New York with Garcia. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
