TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION MONDAY, AUGUST 3RD
#962 MILWAUKEE with Anderson (-) over Chicago with Rondon at 8:10 PM EST
With four days of rest, Milwaukee will ramp its game up a notch when Chicago (White Sox) visits on Monday. The Pale Hose enter this contest off four consecutive wins and this will be a tremendous challenge for the Southsider’s.
On the bump for the Brew Crew will be veteran southpaw Brett Anderson. This will be Anderson’s first start of the season and he will be looking to build on his previous success. Against American League opponents, Brett has been touched for 326 earned runs and 768 hits in 740.1 innings of work. Anderson has struck out 516 batters and issued 191 free passes on his way to a 45-45 mark and a reliable 3.96 ERA. Brett has made six career starts against the White Sox and put together a proud 1-1 record with a 4.21 ERA.
Back on the hill for the ChiSox will be lefty Carlos Rondon. In his first start of the season at Cleveland back on July 28th, No. 55 was slashed for five earned runs and four hits in just 3.2 frames. Rondon walked three, served up one dong and fanned four in the Sox’s 5-3 road loss to the Indians. This will be Carlos’ second start since returning from Tommy John surgery. With 12 interleague games in the bank, Rondon holds a soft 4-6 tall with an elevated 5.78 ERA.
A couple of money-making angles support this Best Bet. Milwaukee has tasted victory in 23 of its last 33 after scoring three runs or less last and 127 of its last 216 battles when competing under the lights.
Brewers Christian Yelich is a shocking 1-for-27 at the plate and that carries with it an embarrassing .037 batting average. With a handful of days to work out the kinks, Yelich’s stick will return to form and help key this huge victory. Take Milwaukee with Anderson. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
