In a foul mood off four consecutive losses, the Devil Rays will regroup in a hurry and absolutely crush the Orioles on Sunday afternoon. Tampa Bay is set to host Boston in its next series and the Rays need to go into that tough matchup with a little momentum.
To get things turned around, Tampa manager Kevin Cash will hand the pearl to right-hander Yonny Chirinos. Back on July 28th, No. 72 faced the hard-hitting Braves at home and was touched for no earned runs and four hits in 4.0 innings. Chirinos fanned four and allowed two walks but failed to earn a decision in the Rays 5-2 victory. Since being called up to the “Bigs” in 2018, Yonny has appeared in 45 games for Tampa (26 starts) and been nipped for 92 earned runs and 200 hits in 227.0 frames. Chirinos has whiffed 193 batters and walked only 55 en route to a 14-10 tally with a solid 3.65 ERA.
Southpaw Tom Milone will toe the rubber for the Birds. In Beantown back on July 24th, No. 69 got the start against the BoSox and was slapped for four earned runs and four hits in 3.0 innings. Milone did fan five but walked three and suffered the “L” in the 13-2 blemish to the Red Sox. With 10 years in the bank, Tommy has taken the hill in 175 games (137 starts) and been slapped around for 438 earned runs and 943 hits in 877.2 frames. Milone owns 653 K’s and 215 walks and carries a 50-48 mark with a feeble 4.49 ERA.
A multitude of strong angles support this Best Bet. Baltimore has fallen in 99 of its last 144 in its own backyard, 69 of its last 99 in the third game of a series, 81 of its last 112 coming off a win and 45 of its last 64 in division play. On the other side of the chalk line, Tampa Bay has cashed 37 of its last 55 when favored and 26 of its last 34 on Sunday.
