TOM STRYKER’S FREE BASKETBALL SELECTION SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST
#737 HOUSTON (+) over Cincinnati at 6 PM EST
Watch out for the Cougars here. Since dropping a two-point decision at Tulsa, Houston has quietly ripped off a 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS record in its last five games. With revenge from a 69-57 loss to UC in the American Athletic Conference Championship last year, UH will be jacked up and ready to go when it visits Fifth Third Arena.
Since the start of the 2017 season, Houston has been on an absolute tear notching a stunning 77-16 SU and 48-32-1 ATS record in its last 93 games. In this run hitting the court off a pointspread loss, the Cougars own a strong 20-4 SU and 16-6 ATS mark including a sweet 14-1 SU and 12-3 ATS tally provided they arrive off a conference game. Also, as an underdog grabbing +6.5 or less, head coach Kelvin Sampson’s boys have been a solid investment posting a proud 9-4 SU and 11-2 ATS record.
Cincinnati’s 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS mark at home in its last 10 in this series is certainly respected and noted. However, when priced as an underdog or a favorite of -6.5 or less and competing against an opponent that owns a team won/loss percentage of .801 or better, the Bearcats have lost their growl notching a stiff 54-87 SU and 53-80-1 ATS record. In this setting checking in with confidence off a blowout victory of 10 points or more, UC falls to a horrendous 14-45 SU and 11-45 ATS including a jaw-dropping 4-27 SU and 5-26 ATS in this set provided head coach John Brannen’s crew enters with four or more days of rest. With those three parameters live and Cincinnati fighting an opponent that did not beat the Las Vegas line by 1.5-points or more last, the Bearcats fall to a woeful 0-19 SU and 1-18 ATS.
The Cougars haven’t forgotten about that loss in last year’s AAC Championship Game and, as you can see from the technical support above, they are in perfect position to pull off this minor upset. Take Houston. Thanks and best of luck. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
