Back on December 6th, Iowa (+7) traveled to Ann Arbor and dropped a 103-91 decision to Michigan. In a revenge mode, the Hawkeyes will be all ball when they take the court at home against the Wolverines on Friday evening. Let’s take a peek inside the numbers.
At home checking in off a straight up road win, Iowa has been worth a look posting a proud 54-16 SU and 37-22-3 ATS record. In this role running the floor against a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage of .660 or better, the Hawkeyes improve to an outstanding 26-10-1 ATS including a highly profitable 13-3 ATS if they own a conference won/loss percentage of .500 or worse. Also, at home this season, Iowa has played extremely well posting a tremendous 7-1 SU and 5-1 ATS record. The Hawkeyes only loss inside Carver Hawkeye Arena came early (on November 11th) against a very good DePaul team.
Michigan is starting to suffer some growing pains under first-year head coach Juwan Howard. After starting the season 7-0 SU (4-2 ATS), the Wolverines own a dismal 4-5 SU and 2-5 ATS record in their last seven games. Foreign courts haven’t exactly been kind to UM either. According to the Team Stryker Database, the Maize and Blue hold a dismal 33-81 SU and 45-68-1 ATS in their last 114 games when priced as a single-digit road dog. In this spot facing an opponent that scoots in with confidence off a blowout win of six points or more, Coach Howard’s boys fall to an ugly 8-27 SU and 10-25 ATS including a stunning 0-9 SU and ATS if their foe was on the road last.
Clinging to a 3-3 SU Big 10 record, the Hawkeyes have three straight at home starting with tonight’s revenge battle versus the Wolverines and they simply need to make them count. Take Iowa. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
