TOM STRYKER’S FREE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SELECTION WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20TH

#728 NEBRASKA (-) over Butler at 9 PM EST
The Cornhuskers are locked into an NIT Tournament First Round system that holds a profitable 73-41 ATS record and the Big Red will put on a show when the Bulldogs visit on Wednesday evening. Butler enters this contest off back-to-back SU and ATS losses to Providence and this will be a tough venue for LaVall Jordan’s crew.

Off nice win and cover over Iowa in its final regular season game, Nebraska played very well in the Big 10 Conference Tournament pulling off upset wins over Rutgers and Maryland before falling (by four) to Wisconsin. With a little confidence, the Huskers are poised to make a postseason run. It won’t hurt that Nebish has been in a zone at home against non-conference opponents notching a strong 27-5 SU and 14-5-1 ATS record in their last 32 games. In this setting priced as an underdog or a favorite of -10 or less, this trend tightens up to a solid 10-2 ATS. Also, since 1996, Big 10 hosts in the First Round of the NIT own a reliable 27-5 SU and 21-11 ATS mark including a golden 8-0 SU and ATS if our “play on” side holds a team won/loss percentage less than .535.

In the NCAA and NIT Tournament, it’s hard to back a team that simply isn’t playing well. Butler fits the bill. In their last 20 games, the Bulldogs have posted a weak 7-13 SU and 7-12-1 ATS record including just 2-11 SU and 3-9-1 ATS if they are competitively priced as an underdog or a favorite of -3 or less. Also, in true road games, BU has been at its financial worst inking a horrible 5-16 SU and 5-15-1 ATS mark in its last 20 including a shocking 0-10 SU and 0-9-1 ATS in this set if they are priced as an underdog of +3 or more. Please note: Those 10 losses came by an average of 13.3 points per game.

Last year, the Cornhuskers (+4.5) traveled to Starkville for an NIT First Round battle against the Bulldogs of Mississippi State and they got spanked 66-59. In Lincoln and with a little steam in their engine, the Big Red will take advantage of the strength of their homecourt and grab this win and cover. Take Nebraska. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.

Be sure to fatten up your wallet for the Big Dance with this postseason money-maker.
