TOM STRYKER’S FREE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SELECTION MONDAY, MARCH 11TH

#874 N ILLINOIS (-) over Ohio at 9 PM EST
The Huskies are locked into a powerful 52-20 ATS conference tournament system on Monday night and they will have no trouble grabbing the win and cover in this First Round MAC battle. Ohio hits the hardwood off five consecutive pointspread wins (3-2 SU) and their string of cashing tickets will come to an abrupt end.

There are a number of reasons to like the home team in this contest. First, in a pair of meetings this season, NIU won and covered both by finals of 72-66 and 71-60. Second, in the MAC Conference Tournament, the Huskies own a profitable 14-8-2 ATS record including 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 competing against an opponent that holds a team won/loss percentage of .450 or better. Finally, at home arriving off two or more road games, Northern Illinois carries a respectable 50-25 SU and 36-24-1 ATS mark including 29-16-1 ATS if its opponent holds a team won/loss percentage less than .650.

Off that impressive SU and ATS home win on Senior Night over Miami, Ohio will have all kinds of trouble inside the NIU Convocation Center. As a MAC guest fighting an opponent that arrives off two or more straight up wins, the Bobcats have been quite tame notching a weak 14-37 SU and 19-32 ATS record. In this role running with three days of rest or less, Ohio falls to a stiff 8-23 SU and 11-20 ATS including 5-16 SU and ATS provided its opponent owns three days of rest or less as well. Also, when matched up against a foe that hits the hardwood off two or more straight up wins, the Bobcats carry a timid 4-16 SU and 6-12-1 ATS mark in their last 20 games including 0-7 ATS in this set if their opponent holds a team won/loss percentage less than .700.

One thing the Huskies do very well is shoot free-throws (2nd in the MAC at 73.3{98f2b46702b964aa2f621cb1b604d81e6a02f7a689ec244db25f4c0c4ad46cb7}). Off the road victories at Central Michigan and Ball State, look for that team strength to provide NIU with the assist in this battle. Take Northern Illinois. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
