TOM STRYKER’S FREE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SELECTION FRIDAY, MARCH 1ST
#874 MIAMI OH (+) over Buffalo at 8 PM EST
Entering with plenty of energy off a massive upset win at Bowling Green, don’t be surprised when Miami knocks off another MAC juggernaut on Friday night. Back on January 12th, the Redhawks (+16′) visited the Bulls and got clobbered 88-64. Rest assured, head coach Jack Owens’ kids will be ready for this rematch.
There are a number of quality angles that support the Redhawks too. When competing as an underdog priced at +1.5 or more and fighting with same season single revenge, Miami owns a profitable 26-15-1 ATS record. At home in this role, Coach Owens’ boys improve to a rewarding 11-3 ATS. Equally impressive, as a home underdog, the Redhawks have been at their financial best notching a money-making 50-30-2 ATS mark in their last 82 tries. In this setting facing a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage greater than .650, Miami improves to a sound 34-18-1 ATS. Finally, as a pup priced at +11 or less, the Redhawks hold a sweet 27-10-1 ATS mark provided its opponent takes the court off back-to-back double-digit straight up wins.
Since losing at Bowling Green, Buffalo has quietly ripped off six consecutive straight up victories by an average of 18.2 points per game. That fact is respected and noted. However, this is going to be a very difficult spot for the visiting Bulls. According to the Team Stryker Database, MAC road teams that own a team won/loss percentage of .850 or better carry a soft 28-46 ATS record provided they are matched up against a conference opponent. If our “play against” guest is priced as a favorite of -10 or less down to pick, this technical situation falls to a nasty 14-32 ATS including 6-21 ATS if they arrive off a blowout win of nine points or more.
With the CBS Sports Network lights shining, the Redhawks will lean on a defense that is allowing just 69.1 points per game in order to keep this one close and have a shot at pulling off this upset. Take Miami University. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
Off a couple of bad beats last night (had the pointspread’s covered with less than 2 minutes to go in both games), Stryker looks to battle back on Friday with one elite 3* Best Bet that will hit paydirt. A rare 16-0 ATS technical situation supports this release along with one solid 20-5 ATS team trend. Grab Tom’s CBB MAC Game of the Month for $25.
